Glue is Not the Only Answer

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

We get more questions everyday on whether you have to use lace wig glue in order to wear a lace front wig. The answer is simply, no, you don’t. Everyone’s hair loss or styling needs are different so lace wig adhesives are not always necessary. Some have total hair loss while some just have persistent problem areas. There are a variety of options for wearing your lace wig. That’s one of the main reasons they are so appealing.

If you have hair at your hairline, you can actually just leave a little of your own hair out and bobby pin the wig down behind your hairline. A lot of people ask whether bobby pinning their wig down is secure. We are still mindful of the ill fitting wigs of years past and have images of wigs flying off a person’s head on a windy day. This is not the case with a prosthetic wig that is designed to hug the contours of your head. If your lace wig is properly sized, bobby pinning it down is very secure. Just make sure to place the pins all around your head, especially at your temples, behind the ears, and at the nape. Any extra pins are for added security. If you’re looking for inspiration on how this could look, check out a couple of Oprah’s past season shows. This past season she wore her own hair out quite a bit but also wore pieces that matched her own hair in color and texture. You can do the same and place the wig behind your natural hairline. It’s a very natural look!

If you have hair loss at your hairline or complete hair loss, pinning the wig down may not work. You do have a few cap design options, though, to achieve a natural look. You can custom order your lace wig with a glue-less cap design. We have a few options to choose from and, yes, they are also secure. The wig will fit to hug your head for security. Accurate measurements will be important for the best fit, and a head template is even better. If you’d like to learn more about these options, please feel free to contact us for a consultation.
