Must Have Hair Trends in 2016

Friday, January 15th, 2016

Hair trends change from season to season, not to mention from year to year. For hair trends in 2016, you should expect some interesting changes in terms of hair styling, as well as some reminiscences from 2015. Dip-dye and highlights are still on, but not on any type of haircut. Top hairstylists foresee more and more haircuts that are suited for each type of hair texture.

2015 trends surviving in 2016
If you embraced a big hair change in 2015, you may well still be very fashionable in 2016, so you don’t need to worry. When it comes to colors, top hairstylists agree that dip-dye and baby highlights will still be popular hair trends in 2016.  Some don’t believe rainbow hair or sunset hair will be as appreciated as they were during the previous year. However, you can’t fail as long as the color of your hair compliments your skin color.
When it comes to haircuts and styles, bobs and natural kinky curly styles are still in, and so is the long, layered hair. Luckily, bob haircuts have survived during the past years and they will be more than appreciated during 2016 too. What changes is the way we style bobs. Hairstylists will try to work with every woman’s natural hair texture rather than changing it by using too many products and by applying too much heat.

Bringing the ‘20s in 2016
In case you weren’t already used to comebacks, here’s one! The Gatsby-inspired bob is back and it is ready to compliment women who want to highlight their cheekbones. Short bangs are included in this hairstyle and that’s a good thing. You’ll see many haircuts with statement bangs among the many hair trends in 2016, so you can adopt a bold attitude with yours.  Short bobs might sound like a huge commitment for those of you who have long hair, so think about your alternatives, such as wigs. You can keep your long hair for yourself while sporting a wig that breathes style and fashion. Here at De Novo Hair you can order a customized wig that will improve your image in 2016 without having to change the one from 2015.

Accessorizing hair more than in 2015
Accessorizing hair is not a new notion, but thanks to various accessory producers and the fabulous hair tattoos, it will be soon embraced by more and more women. 2016 will be the year during which women will go out and about with golden and sparkly things on their heads. Bold hair colors aren’t enough anymore, so the need of hair accessories is predicted to be one of the hair trends in 2016.

In conclusion, 2016 will bring haircuts suited for every hair texture, plenty of accessories to make you look even prettier and colors that will nicely blend in. Remember that if you aren’t ready for a big change, you can always experiment with a wig made of natural hair. This kind of wig looks and feels natural, so it is simply perfect for anyone!

Rocking Gray Hair With Wigs

Thursday, August 20th, 2015

The short, nicely styled, awesomely combed gray hair has worked its way on today’s red carpet looks. Even so, not all of us everyday people are ready to rock this kind of hairstyle inspired by Mother Nature. Perhaps, more bitter for women than it will ever be for men, graying hair is definitely unstoppable, but there are ways to flaunt it and even hide it, if you so choose. The most common solution would be to dye your grey hair, but isn’t that too much of a commitment to just one color and, also, damaging for our hair?

Sooner or later we are all going to have to deal with gray hair issues. According to various hair-stylists, there are an increasingly large number of young women who ask for advice regarding their grayed out hairs. The explanation for this natural change is quite simple. Our bodies produce a pigment called melanin, but the production of melanin doesn’t stay consistent throughout our lives. Therefore, at some point, our bodies will produce less resulting in grey hairs.

There are dozens of causes that determine whether hair will change color in people who are still young. Some of them are accepted by most scientists, while others are still in debate. Among all these, the best known are faulty diets, stress, blow-drying, hair dyes, anemia, anxiety or even heredity factors. Many well-known celebrities face this problem, such as Kate Middleton, Jennifer Lopez, Katie Holmes and even young Selena Gomez. The most obvious and embraced solution for gray hair is hair-dye, but is it really the best one? Dyeing our hair has a thinning, damaging effect on it, sometimes causing hair loss or producing allergies. In addition, gray hair is known to be quite stubborn when it comes to coloring, so dyeing requires stronger dyes that are filled with even more chemicals. Not to mention that sometimes there are some hairs that act rebellious by not absorbing the dye and that proudly stand out. As for the permanent commitment aspect, dyeing our hair is an even worse choice for those of us who like to change their hair color often.

Gray Hair Wigs At DeNovoHair.com

A more user-friendly, very fun, non-permanent and with little risks approach is the wig! Perhaps, many of us still associate gray wigs with the kind of look of Marie Antoinette’s. This is, of course, a misconception, but linking wigs to something pompous or uncomfortable is still a held belief by some who are not familiar with the wig technology of today. Since we are all going to deal with gray hair someday and some of us are dealing with it right now, we should really consider all the beautiful styling options available with trendy wigs rather than damaging our hair further with dyes. Wearing different wigs is like dyeing and styling our hair differently every day, but without all the hassle!

When Wig Was Queen

Thursday, August 13th, 2015

Is there any connection between the famous pop singer, Lady Gaga, and the great Queen Elizabeth I of England? Not an obvious one for sure, but there surely is one. Just like the pop singer doesn’t miss any chance to impress her fans and the music world by wearing fancy wigs matched with eccentric outfits, so did aristocratic women of times past. Their clothes were not as hair raising as Lady Gaga’s, but their wigs definitely were. Women from baroque and rococo periods took wigs to a whole new level by adding all kinds of accessories on them.

The reasons why women used to wear wigs centuries ago are not so different than the ones applicable these days. Yes, they wanted to look good, but they also needed wigs because of lice problems. Heat favors the multiplication of lice, so they used to shave their heads and cover them with beautiful, pompous wigs. For most these days, this particular concern no longer exists, but there are other reasons that generate baldness.

It goes without saying that only aristocratic women were able to afford a wig. The natural hair used to make wigs was often taken from slaves. In order to look more attractive, some women were only using what we know these days as wefts and closures. In Rome, both men and women started wearing wigs since the early days of the empire. The wig was considered a sign of distinction.

It is said that Empress Messalina would wear a blonde wig in order to disguise herself when she went to the brothel. Blonde wigs were, in fact, most sought by the Roman aristocratic women. Therefore, hair from European women was idealized. In addition, Faustina, wife of Marcus Aurelius, had an impressive collection of wigs- one for each attire. While these remarkable women only needed wigs to enhance their looks, Queen Elizabeth I was so well known for her red wigs that it was rumored that she had hair loss issues and needed to wear them. However, these bald tales seem to be unsubstantiated.

The eighteenth-century brought rococo wigs that were decorated in very unusual ways. Some of the ladies had high wigs with metal frames inside them that were able to sustain bird cages. They used to put one of these wigs on when they went out for a walk in the park or to visit someone. Jewelry, feathers and all kinds of other precious and flashy objects were glued onto wigs. However, things changed after the French Revolution, when wigs were associated with excess and decadence.

Wearing a wig is not associated with social prestige anymore. However, we basically have the same reasons for wearing a wig as did women who lived centuries ago. Either for medical reasons or just beautification purposes, wigs now are accessible and quite varied. Wearing them is now optional and they are a whole lot more comfortable. There is no longer a social pressure on women who wear wigs and those who choose not to. It is a personal option for both women suffering from various hair loss/medical conditions and women who just want to change their looks overnight.

Special Care for Your 100% Natural Lace Wigs

Saturday, August 8th, 2015

natural lace wigs The reason why 100% natural lace wigs are the best choice is already clear, but the fact that they need special care might seem intimidating to some. Indeed, synthetic wigs don’t need styling and they are easy to wash just by putting them in cold water mixed with a special solution. However, natural lace wigs can be much more rewarding because of the efforts you make in maintaining its beauty and the versatility in styling.
If you own a natural lace wig, then you know that the hairstyles won’t last very long without proper care. Just like naturally growing hair, the hair used to make our lace wigs may become oily, dry or and go flat. This happens because although the hair is all natural, it was cut from the roots that were feeding it with nutrients in order to regenerate it and keep it moisturized. So, the need of washing your natural lace wig for an infusion of moisture is imperative. Whenever you feel that your wig is full of hairspray, wax or any other styling products that you might use, it will need to be cleaned.

Washing your all natural lace wigs

Before you wash your wig, you must comb the hair carefully. Using a wide tooth comb rather than a brush is pertinent for preventing unnecessary shedding. If you skip this step, you might have to deal with even larger portions of tangled hair afterwards, and therefore, an increase in shedding.
Next, you can fill the sink or a bowl that’s big enough with warm water. The reason why lace wigs need to be washed with warm water is because the pores of natural hair open in contact with heat sources and close in contact with cold water or cold air. Washing with the wrong temperature can cause the hair to be dry or tangle more. The hair products used can also impact the softness and manageability of your natural lace wigs. You can choose from a wide range of products that are especially meant to be used for wigs. When in a pinch and you have to wash your unit and don’t have any special wig shampoo, you can use a highly moisturizing regular shampoo.
The third step that you should take after cleaning your natural lace wig is to apply a conditioner. There are plenty revitalizing conditioners in our store and that are available in your local markets that can moisturize your wig well. Opt for non-static products if you notice that there’s a tendency of electrification when you comb the hair. Then, rinse the wig’s hair with warm water. You should expect some hair shedding with continued use and washing of your natural lace wigs, so we recommend that you do not overdo it with washing. You should wash the hair when necessary but daily washing is certainly not recommended.
It is important to towel or air dry your natural lace wigs. Hand squeeze any extra water and then place the wig in a towel to soak up any extra water. If you have a curly hair unit, it is recommended that you do not use a towel! This can cause extra frizz and dryness. For curly units, hand squeeze out the extra water, apply your favorite curl defining product and then let the wig air dry. Ideally, you should let your natural lace wigs air dry on a wig stand and style it after it is dry. Flat irons or curling irons are permitted with natural hair and you can also use heat protectants before you begin the styling process of your wig. De Novo Hair is also resourceful when it comes to styling products, as well as wig stands that make your work much easier.

Winterizing Your Hair, by Chaunteese

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Since having my new De Novo Hair full lace wig I have acquired a number of suggestions that will help clients keep their wig healthy and tangle free. Anyone who has spent even one single day in Chicago during the winter can contest to the brutality that Mother Nature unleashes on the body, skin and hair. That’s why here in Chi, we have to bundle up! However, the materials that our hats and coats are made from oftentimes are not friendly to our hair.  In fact, clients oftentimes, come in to the salon with breakage and evidence of unhealthy hair care.  What causes this breakage is friction, which is caused by movement between the materials of our garments which comes in contact with our hair.  This friction can also cause tangling with your hair addition, especially at the nape. However, there are ways to help reduce that friction: 1) Try to wear garments made from the material Satin or Silk.  So, before you put on your winter hat and coat, you should put on a silk or satin bonnet or scarf to protect your hair.  This will provide adequate protection, in most instances, against the drying effects of Mother Nature’s brutal winds and cold temperatures. In addition, this will reduce tangling as well as breakage. Stay warm and don’t worry so much about your hair!
